Since the establishment of the Rotterdam “Tamboer- & Trompetterkorps Euroband” (Drums & Trumpet Band Euroband) in 1961 the orchestra has grown into an association with no less than 4 different departments.

“Show- & Marchingband”

The largest and best-known department within the association is the show- & marchingband. It consists of about 45 musicians aged between 16 and 55. They rehearse once every week, led by a professional instruction team in order to keep the level high and even improve it.

Also because of this high level, Euroband is a welcome guest at street parades and tattoos at home and abroad and by now it has a great record of service.

For example, the orchestra made guest appearances at the following events:
• The National Military tattoos in 2006, Floriade Tattoo 1992, tattoos the Rotterdam Ahoy Hall, Eurotattoos in 2001 and 2004.
• The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Halifax (Canada) in 2008.
• Flower parades in e.g. Zundert (The Netherlands), Digne-les-Bains (France), Neuchâtel (Switzerland) en Jersey (United Kingdom).
• Street parades in e.g. Paris, Cologne, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Brussels and London.

In 1966, 1970, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013, the orchestra successfully participated in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade (The Netherlands). In 2013 the orchestra scored 89.18 points on march as well as 87.38 points on show, both accounting for another beautiful gold medal, of which the association is very proud.

The strength of the orchestra is currently: percussion, rhythm section, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piccolos, flutes, baritone horns and sousaphones. The music, especially composed and arranged for the orchestra, guarantees for their own sound both in march and in show.

Euroband’s new 2012 gala show is themed “Night and Day”. It is an impression of the familiar 24 hours in a day, with all its moods and sounds that you may recognize. Euroband carries you away, from a calm awakening until the sun really breaks through, with the sparkling music of daylight as well as an intense ballad and a mysterious evening and all the special effects that go with that.

Besides the gala show, the Show- & Marchingband has a second (alternative) show called “Bella Italia”, an Italian show in which various famous and popular Italian songs are played. All this is presented in a completely Italian outfit.

“Stageband Eurokest”

Eurokest is a department of Euroband. This department consists of musicians who use their knowledge and experience, gained with the Show- & Marchingband, in an orchestra that performs mainly sitting down. Such an orchestra is called a stageband (stage orchestra). Eurokest was established in October 2005 and performs during all kinds of events. You may think of – in view of events in recent years – performances at or on the occasion of: cycle races, Christmas, fairs, exhibitions and parties. Combinations with other departments of Euroband have also occurred quite often, such as, for example, with Popchoir Xing. The repertoire of Eurokest consists of modern, pop and dance music. Eurokest also has a Christmas repertoire.
The ensemble consists of approximately 20 members: a conductor, trumpets, trombones, baritone horns, percussion, bass tubas and saxophones.

“Young Euroband”

Young Euroband is the junior department. This department of the Euroband was established in 2005. Boys and girls aged between 7 and 16 participate in various march and show performances. When they reach the age of 16, they will go on to the “Show- & Marchingband”.

“Pop Choir Xing Rotterdam”

Xing Rotterdam is Euroband’s pop choir, currently consisting of 30 enthusiastic ladies (gentlemen are also welcome). Xing Rotterdam was established in 2006 and their current repertoire comprises evergreens, pop and classics. Because of their way of performing, Xing Rotterdam lends colour and sound to every event.
